The health and welfare of Broward County residents will be hit hard unless Broward County commissioners do the right thing. On Jan. 28, the County Commission will take up whether to approve a huge expansion of the privately owned Monarch Hill landfill — known locally as Mount Trashmore. Now 210 feet tall, the expanded mountain of garbage would add 24 acres in area and another 115 feet in height, making it taller than the Statue of Liberty.
