I had been attracted to the role in part because of its flexibility; with a 6-year-old and a 2-year-old to parent, a PhD thesis to complete, and a partner to whom I hoped to at least wave occasionally, a largely self-directed role researching big public policy challenges seemed like a great option, especially because it could be done mostly from home – I didn’t know then of course that soon we’d all be doing that.
