Aortic stenosis (AS) is the most common valvular heart disease (VHD) in developed countries.1 With aging, calcific aortic stenosis (CAS) becomes more prevalent. According to projections, AS prevalence in Western countries will increase significantly as the elderly population grows.2 The risk factors for CAS are similar to those of coronary artery disease (CAD): hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and obesity.3 Once the disease starts, it will progress gradually from mild to severe stenosis.
