This exploratory qualitative study with foreign-born participants found several themes that affected a delay or refusal to take the COVID-19 vaccine. Sociocultural differences meant that official institutions failed to understand that immigrants were hindered from accessing COVID-19 information due to language barriers and not recognising Sweden’s health agencies, and that adapted strategies directed to foreign-born audiences could have made a considerable difference.
