An Israeli air strike on Beirut's southern suburbs has killed four people, Lebanon's health ministry says, putting further pressure on a fragile ceasefire between Israel and the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah. The strike also injured seven people, the health ministry said. The attack was the second on the Dahieh area, where Hezbollah has a strong presence, in recent days, despite the truce that came into force in November.

Israel says it is attacking Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon after rockets were fired from there into Israel for the first since a bilateral ceasefire deal came into effect in November. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had instructed the Israel Defense Forces "to act forcefully against dozens of terror targets in Lebanon". The IDF earlier said three rockets were intercepted in the Israeli town of Metula on Saturday morning. No injuries were reported.

The family of four stood in the middle of the street in front of the pile of twisted metal and broken concrete, struggling to comprehend the devastation they were seeing. The building had been destroyed by a recent Israeli air strike and smoke was still rising from the rubble. The next building to the right had partially collapsed; the one behind it had a huge hole at the top. They continued walking to the building where they used to live, in Tyre in southern Lebanon.
