1. IntroductionGlioblastoma multiforme (GBM), a highly aggressive brain cancer that originates in glial cells, is the most common and deadliest form of primary brain tumor in adults. It accounts for approximately 15% of all brain tumors and 50% of all gliomas [1,2], with a global incidence of approximately 3–4 cases per 100,000 individuals [3].
