With the fall semester wrapping up and the holiday season upon us, students are looking for fun activities to take part in and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year. “I was a fan of Christmas as a child, but now that I am older, I mostly enjoy the family time” says Shelby Johnston, an early childhood education student.

The college’s Jack Doyle Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC) hosted a doubles badminton tournament on Nov. 22. The tournament was held with only four weeks left in the fall semester and students were grateful they could take some time out of their busy schedules to cool off and have some fun playing a sport they enjoy. “I have been so stressed with the amount of work I have due over the next couple of weeks,” said Joseph Amandi, a business student.

After suddenly losing my father, Scott, when I was 18 years old, it was a daily struggle to get up every day and go out without having an awful feeling in the pit of my stomach. I was grieving, but it had also grown into anxiety. Finally, after two years, I decided it was time to tell my mom about what I was going through. After about a year of seeing different therapists back home in Oshawa, I was able to find one. It changed my life completely.

If you missed celebrating the start of the new school year by attending the City Folk Festival, don’t fear: consider this a reminder to go next year. The festival, which ran between Sept. 13-17, was back in Ottawa for the 29th time. Originally founded as the “Ottawa Folk Festival,” it was inspired by the folk scene in the city.

Now a handful of days removed from BYU’s 14-0 win over Sam Houston to kick off the 2023 season, and with proper time to overreact to one game, it’s time to take a look forward to the Cougar’s next matchup as Southern Utah comes to town for just another “in-state game.” With the Thunderbirds coming to Provo there is little time to dwell on the past game and yet it is crucial to take note of ways that BYU, and the offense in particular, can continue to improve week to week.
