    GUN, Scottish rock stalwarts that you’ll doubtless remember from the 90s, brought their Hombres tour to Leeds’ legendary Brudenell Social Club. Shooting to prominence off the back of a couple of good albums and a big hit with their cover of Word Up, the band were a regular fixture on the rock and festival scene through the mid 1990s. After a few personnel changes and a fourth album that didn’t match the expectations set by Gallus and Swagger the brand took a lengthy break.

Produced and mixed by Lewis Kellett (W.H Lung, The Orielles), the EP is a showcase of Coe’s musicality and versatility. The Manchester-based singer-songwriter is picking up momentum since she released the single No Hope at the end of 2022. Since then, she’s picked up some strong support slots with the likes of TTSFU, Let’s Eat Grandma and The Lounge Society.

The band – Leo Wyndham, Harry Deacon, Matt Hodges and Rupert Turner – having been favourably compared to the likes of The National and Bon Iver, create deep, introspective work and the opening numbers of the set play right into that heartland.

    I’ve never seen a queue at Leeds University Stylus quite as long as the one that snaked around the area directly below the famous refectory. This was, though, the first time that fans had the chance to see Wasia Project in Leeds, and there was a lot of excitement up and down the queue. It was a young crowd, ranging from some early teens who had brought a parent along to sit at the back, to students who probably hadn’t travelled that far from their accommodation.
