1 INTRODUCTION L-tryptophan ((2S)-2-amino-3-(1H-indol-3-yl)propanoic acid), an essential amino acid, is crucial for the nutrition of monogastric animals and preweaning ruminants, as it cannot be synthesized endogenously in the body (Yao et al., 2011). Playing a vital role in protein synthesis, L-tryptophan acts as a building block through noncovalent binding with serum albumin. It also serves as a precursor to noteworthy compounds like serotonin, melatonin, and niacin (Friedman, 2018).
