South Korea's Robotis Co. said on Tuesday it partnered with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to develop physical AI. Robotis and MIT were selected for an international joint research project led by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), under the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy. Physical AI refers to bodily intelligence that can replicate precise physical forces, similar to human physical capabilities.

South Korea’s Suprema Inc., an artificial intelligence (AI)-based security company, said on Monday it won a contract to supply its fingerprint recognition access control system to the Addis Ababa City Innovation and Technology Development Bureau (ITDB) in Ethiopia. Ssangyong C&E Co., a leading South Korean cement maker, said on Monday it has exported 30,000 tons of low-carbon limestone cement to the US – the first Korean company to export eco-friendly cement to the US market. The company said it shipped the volume, classified in the US as type IL, with lower clinker content than general cement or type 1 portland cement, last week. Cement clinker is a solid material produced in the manufacture of Portland cement as an intermediary product.

Woojin Industrial Systems Co., a South Korean railway vehicle manufacturer, said on Friday that it has been selected as the preferred bidder for the Inglewood Transit Connector (ITC) light rail project in Inglewood, California, a project led by the City of Inglewood in Los Angeles County. South Korea's SP&Mobility, a robotics unit of Sampyo Group, unveiled its MPSystem on Monday, an automated robotic parking system designed to replace conventional mechanical garages. A joint venture between Sampyo and the domestic robotic parking tech startup Semper M Corp., SP&Mobility said the MPSystem eliminates the need for human intervention, thereby enhancing safety. Semper M has been marketing the system overseas since 2017, targeting markets such as Thailand and the UAE.

South Korea's service robot company Everybot Inc. acquired AI robot mobility specialist hyCore to expand into the personal mobility sector. Everybot, a company listed on the Kosdaq, said on Monday that it secured management rights by acquiring 947,250 shares or 31.8% stake in hyCore. Founded in 2012, hycore possesses core technologies in three areas: motor control technology, electric and electronic drive system design and manufacturing, and AI autonomous driving.
