    LONDON (Reuters) -Major British pension funds pledged on Tuesday to pump up to 50 billion pounds ($66 billion) of additional investment into UK businesses and infrastructure, as the government leans on private capital to fund public projects and boost growth. Seventeen investment firms, including Aviva, Legal & General and M&G, said they would invest up to 10% of their pension portfolios in infrastructure, property and private equity by 2030, according to a government statement.

    British fund manager Schroders reported 7.4 billion pounds ($9.8 billion) of net outflows in the first quarter on Thursday, as customers withdrew cash from its joint venture funds in China. Schroders said its flows were impacted by 8.5 billion pounds cashed out from its joint ventures in the three months to end-March, primarily from money market funds in China, where it operates two ventures with local bank Bank of Communications.

Property sales in Europe totalled 41 billion euros ($47 billion) in the first quarter of this year, down 11% on the previous year and breaking a run of three consecutive quarters of annual increases, the data showed.
