The other weird thing (IMHO) about the debate was its unexpected authenticity factor. Carney, unused to rough-housing, was often reduced to acknowledging the Trumpian shiteshow ahead. Glossy PP, grooming his answers to be future memes, seemed too slick by comparison.

This (below) is true. But overall, PP came across as yesterday’s man, with yesterday’s rote ideas still spilling from his mouth. Carney’s debate inexperience let PP get away with murder, but overall Carney came across as the only leader with the chops to face the new Trump music.

All that Scott Jennings and Shermichael Singleton, the representative Trumpians on CNN, ever do in answer to a legit question is a) grossly generalize and then b) talk over everyone. That’s their whole game.

This would be more convincing if a) Trump's tariffs were as surgical and precise as Obama's tire tariffs, and b) there weren't serious questions as to what Trump will gain personally from the country-by-country deals he is striking--which was not the case with Obama.
