NetRise has closed a $10 million Series A funding round for software supply chain visibility and risk management. The funding round was led by DNX Ventures. It included several existing investors, including Miramar Digital Ventures, Sorenson Capital, Squadra Ventures, and Talons Ventures. It brings the total raised by NetRise to $24.8 million.

The CA/Browser Forum has voted to reduce the life of SSL/TLS certificates to just 42 days by 2029. The move is part of a plan to improve online security. The reduction in lifespan should also drive automation and make systems ready for quantum computing challenges. Of course, there is another side to this: cost. The cost of a Sectigo Domain Wildcard (DVWC) certificate is currently £350 ex VAT. By 2029, customers will be paying this 8 times a year. That means their costs will rise to over £3,000.

VertiGIS is to use its Integrator solution to integrate GIS data into SAP’s ERP systems. The project is in support of its client, the Intermunicipal Association for Waste Management (IVAGO) in Ghent, Belgium. The integration will enable the route planning team to plan more efficient routes for its 190 collection vehicles, road sweepers and electric passenger cars.

Pulsant has acquired SCC’s two UK data centres in Fareham, Hants and Cole Valley, Birmingham. The deal means that Pulsant now owns and operates 14 data centres and that SCC no longer owns any data centres. The sale of the two facilities comes after a strategic review by SCC as to the future of its facilities. Despite the sale, the company says it will continue to provide services to its existing clients.

A quieter week for cybersecurity news. Enterprise Times published a conversation with Isabelle Mauny, Chief Developer Advocate at WSO2. Mauny explained how WSO2 is creating developer advocates who would be rewarded for their work in the community. The UK Information Commissioners Office (ICO) has confirmed a £3 million fine on Advanced Computer Software Group (Advanced). The fine is half of what the ICO had previously stated it would consider imposing after a 2022 data breach.
