Barry Town consolidated their Top Six position with a 2-1 win away at Flint last Saturday, writes Ian Johnson. Two first half goals put Barry in the driving seat, before conceding a controversial goal in which manager Steve Jenkins was sent to the stand as he protested the decision. Flint had the opening chance of the game, with Florian Yonsian looking to chip Barry ‘keeper, Luc Rees, the ball bouncing off the top of the crossbar. But it was Barry who took the lead in the 21st minute.

Barry Town reached the semi-final of the Nathaniel MG Cup on Tuesday night, beating Cymru Premier league leaders, Penybont at Jenner Park. Two goals from Ollie Hulbert and a winner from Kayne McLaggon secured Barry’s place in the final four of the competition. Responding to the weekend’s Welsh Cup defeat, Barry put out a strong side in the league cup, but found themselves on the back foot when conceding an early goal.

Newtown 2 - 4 Barry Town United A stunning second half comeback saw Barry take all three points away at Newtown, reaching the Top Six of the Cymru Premier. Nobody knows what Steve Jenkins told his team in the changing room at half-time, but Barry were instantly back in a match which had looked beyond them at two nil down. Despite Barry making no changes from the side that beat Briton Ferry a few days earlier, it was the home side who made the early running, taking the lead after 12 minutes.

The home side took a tenth minute lead. Keenan Patten received a pass from Josh Beecher on the left touchline, cut inside, taking the ball to the edge of the box before letting fly with a low right footed shot to beat the keeper.

Harrison Bright gave Barry a first half lead, but it became a second half to forget, with the home side scoring four times.
