The NHL and NHLPA conducted their annual player poll. One of the questions this year asked which PWHL rule they would adopt for the NHL. The leading result among the 505 NHL players who responded was that they'd like to implement the Jailbreak rule, which sees a minor penalty end if the shorthanded team scores a goal. AdvertisementOf the respondents, 29.7% said they'd implement the Jailbreak. The next closest rule in the NHL/NHLPA poll was the PWHL's 3-2-1 points system.

Heading into the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, Italy is moving up from the Division 1B World Championships winning gold. They'll move within reach of the top teams in the world climbing to the Division 1A Worlds next season. In their opening four games of the World Championships, Italy did not relinquish a goal. Italy opened with a 12-0 win over Slovenia, which they followed with a 2-0 win over Kazakhstan.
