Cook: Yesterday I took a break from my morning doom scrolling through anger, pain, fear, and aggression to check my H-Index.I checked the number of times my publications had been cited by other authors. I didn’t do this to cheer myself up. It’s almost as depressing as doom scrolling.I checked my H-index because I needed to create a metricised, accountable, legible version of myself for a grant application.
