Image - Central Region OPP/X Two males are being sought in connection with an armed robbery at a home in Alliston. Provincial police say they responded around 4 p.m. on Wednesday to a residence on Anderson Drive. They say prior to their arrival, the suspects fled the home on foot northbound towards Beattie Avenue. According to police, the suspects forcibly entered the home, displayed a firearm and demanded money from the victims.

Two trucks were removed from the road by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) due to numerous safety defects. The vehicles were stopped by police on Wednesday as the rigs were heading into Edenvale Airport off of Highway 26 in Springwater Township. Both commercial motor vehicles were found with cracked rims on their trailers, police said in a Facebook post.

From a pilot project to permanent. Barre's automated speed enforcement camera system(ASE) is staying put. City councillors gave initial approval Wednesday night, without discussion. Council will consider final approval at its June 4 meeting. The cameras were launched in December 2023, and figures released in a recent staff report show the program has generated more than $1.2 million in revenue, operating costs of $711,000, and a surplus of $535,684.

A man has been charged after Ontario Provincial Police responded to a coffee shop in Collingwood on Tuesday afternoon about someone throwing rocks at passing vehicles. He allegedly damaged the entrance to the First Street business. When officers attempted to speak to him, it's alleged he resisted arrest and assaulted an officer, who sustained an eye injury. The officer was treated at a local hospital and released.

File photo - Barrie Police Service cruiser Two men were arrested in the area of Dunlop and Mary Streets on Tuesday afternoon when police say an officer noted the pair had allegedly just finished smoking illicit drugs. No additional drugs were located, according to police, but one male was found to have two knives, one of which was prohibited. He was transported to police headquarters for further investigation, while the other male was released unconditionally.
