The Groceries Code Adjudicator is today launching an investigation into online giant Amazon over alleged delay in payments to suppliers. The announcement comes just days before he is due to publish the findings of his latest supplier survey. The GCA said he had “reasonable grounds” to suspect that Amazon had breached paragraph 5 of the Groceries Code (no delay in payments), between 1 March 2022 to 20 June 2025. This is based on evidence from a range of sources.

Morrisons boss Rami Baitiéh today said it has “bounced back” from last year’s Blue Yonder cyberattack, as the supermarket revealed Q2 like-for-like sales up 3.9%. Baitiéh also said the outlook was looking up for Morrisons against what he called a “challenging” backdrop, saying its overhaul of Market Street would give the retailer a “tighter, sharper range”.

The Groceries Code Adjudicator will be advising on evidence in a landmark High Court hearing, in a move that could have huge implications for suppliers claiming to be unfairly delisted by retailers. A judge this week ruled that Adjudicator Mark White should be allowed to intervene in the case pitting the discounter Aldi against its former sprout and brassica suppliers, John Clappison and Matthew Rawson.
