Japan’s major vehicle manufacturers are planning a consortium to lead the country’s connected car industry on a standards push designed to leapfrog the dominant position currently held by China. Japan’s big three – Toyota, Nissan and Honda – plan to lead discussions to create a standardised design for next-generation automotive chips that it hopes to have ready by March 2029.

Huawei's detailed financial results for 2024, published in the vendor’s annual report, revealed a staggering increase in full year revenues of 862.1bn yuan ($118.2bn), a 22.4% year-on-year rise, its fastest rate of growth in five years.
