A philanthropist, Kashim Tumsah, has pledged a cash reward of N100,000 for every indigene of Yobe State who scored above 300 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME. The UTME is conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB. Mr Tumsah, who disclosed this to NAN on Sunday in Damaturu, said this was part of the KMT-Light up Yobe initiative aimed at promoting academic excellence and human capital development across the state.

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has announced plans to end the issuance of waivers under the Coastal and Inland Shipping Act 2003. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he expects Russia to implement a ceasefire and that he will personally be waiting for President Vladimir Putin in Türkiye on May 15. Zelenskyy announced this on Telegram, Turkish news agency, quoting Ukrinform, said on Sunday. “We await a full and lasting ceasefire, starting from tomorrow, to provide the necessary basis for diplomacy. “There is no point in prolonging the killings,” the Ukrainian President stated.

Rangers International FC of Enugu on Sunday defeated Katsina United FC 2-0 in the week 36 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL. The match played at the mainbowl of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu, was Rangers’ last home game of the season. Veteran, Godwin Obaje scored a brace in the 10th and 15th minutes of the first half to end the game 2-0 at half time. On resumption of second half, Katsina came out smoking putting Rangers under intense pressure but without any goal to show for it.
