A Professor of Haematology and blood transfusion at the Edo University, Iyamho, Etsako West Local Government Area has decried the dearth of registered haematologists in the country, saying that they are just about 200. The Professor, Marcellinus Uchechukwu Nwagu of the Department of Haematology and Blood transfusion in the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, expressed the concern while delivering the 17th Inaugural lecture of the University.

The management of Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO) has flagged off free medical outreach for 300 pupils of Akengbuda Primary School at Urora community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. The outreach flagged off on Friday, May 9, 2025, was organised in partnership with the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) at the premises of the school.

Paddy Iyamu, the Edo State Commissioner for Education said the government has commenced the issuances of letters to 8,476 promoted teachers in the public schools. Iyamu, who disclosed this during an interview newsmen in Benin City, said the processes for the promotion of the teachers started in February 2025 which now climaxed in the issuances of letters to the affected teachers. He noted that the promotion was to motivate the teachers for optimal performance.

The parley was attended by the management of the Edo State Investment Promotion Office (ESIPO) led by Amen Odigie, managing director of the agency, and that of the Dangote Cement Company led by Mohammed Ismaeel, Plant director of the company.
