The suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, on Tuesday paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu at his residence in Lagos State. Tinubu has been in Lagos since last week, where he commissioned several projects. The President will remain in the state until the Sallah celebrations are over. Fubara’s meeting with Tinubu may not be unconnected to the ongoing state of emergency in Rivers State.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has claimed that Victor Osimhen was not invited for the Unity Cup and the friendly match against Russia, because he needs time to sort out his future. Osimhen is Nigeria’s first-choice striker and has scored 26 international goals in 41 games. However, despite an impressive loan spell with Galatasaray, the 26-year-old was left out of Chelle’s squad for the recent games.

Simone Inzaghi, on Tuesday, officially left his position as Inter Milan manager. This comes days after they were hammered 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. “The time has come for me to say goodbye to this club after a run of four years during which I gave everything,” Inzaghi said in a letter to fans. He is now expected to move to Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. Al Hilal are believed to have reportedly offered Inzaghi over €20 million per season.

The UK government has threatened to drag ex-Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich to court over the frozen £2.5 billion in proceeds from his sale of the football club. Abramovich had claimed he wanted to donate the money to victims of Russia’s war in Ukraine. Following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Britain sanctioned Abramovich in a crackdown on Russian oligarchs. This led to a quick sale of the Premier League club and freezing of the proceeds.

Galatasaray Vice President, Niyazi Yelkencioğlu, has said if Victor Osimhen leaves the club, it will be because of money. Osimhen’s one-year loan deal with the Turkish giants has ended. It now remains to be seen where the 26-year-old will play next season. The Super Eagles is expected to leave Napoli on a permanent basis and he has a lot of admirers from England, Spain, France and Saudi Arabia.
