    Abuja — The Federal Government, on Thursday, adduced reasons why it has not extradited a self-styled Prime Minister of Biafra, Mr. Simon Ekpa, who was arrested and detained in Finland, back to Nigeria for prosecution. FG, through the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, disclosed that Ekpa committed cross-border offences that also required his trial in Finland.

    The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, dismissed a suit that MultiChoice Nigeria Limited filed to challenge the intervention of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) in the recent increase in DStv and Gotv subscription fees. The court, in the judgement that was delivered by Justice James Omotosho, held that the suit constituted an abuse of court process since the same subject matter is pending before another court.

    ABUJA— The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, yesterday, admitted in evidence, video clips containing a series of inflammatory broadcasts that were made by the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The videos, which were contained in a flash drive, were played in the open court after the Federal Government tendered them through an operative of the Department of State Services, DSS, which was codenamed PW-BBB.

    Abuja — The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, on Wednesday, asked the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, to forthwith, stop the parading of suspects in custody, describing the action as unlawful and unconstitutional. The rights body stressed that the 1999 Constitution, as amended, presumed every accused persons to be innocent. It maintained that the practice of parading suspects before their trial or conviction, amount to a gross violation of the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution.
