What do you do when staring into the mirror brings you grief? You stare at it anyway. A STRANGE LOOP might seem like a strange title for a musical, a cognitive science term coined by Douglas Hofstadter that revolves around the creation of self-identity. Having no innate essence of being or personality, the mind creates symbolic value from events, impressions, and thoughts, proceeding to weave a tapestry of self that soon takes its own word as evidence.

What do you do when your neighbour to the south starts keeping you up at night? He’s inconsiderate, ignorant, and keeps talking about annexing your house. Second City’s Duel Citizens, in the company’s 90th mainstage review, tells that neighbour in no uncertain terms to get off our collective lawn, in its usual sprightly and entertaining fashion. Duel Citizens isn’t entirely political; far from it, in fact, and the most clearly political references aren’t necessarily its hardest-hitting moments.

Kim’s box represents the suffocating limits under which Millennial Londoner Myah operates.

#review to come, but I loved the heartfelt, welcoming BENEVOLENCE by Kevin Matthew Wong @tarragontheatre. Richly drawn characters in a tightly-structured monologue, a journey of discovery of Hakka identity with fun visual surprises and lots of humour. See it! #theatre #theaTO

The Little Prince at Theatre Passe Muraille by Deaf artist and storyteller Landon Krentz and Inside Out Theatre is a great concept with little joys, but needs more clarity in the big picture #theatre #theaTO @CTCAreviews https://t.co/jANHf8Mk2O
