Singing to babies comes naturally for many parents. And now, a new study from Yale University finds that singing to babies lifts their moods and improves their overall well-being. "Infants who are being sung to a lot are happier in general throughout the day, not just when singing is happening," said Samuel Mehr, an associate professor adjunct at the Yale University Child Study Center and one of the authors of the study.

Along the L.A. River, history reveals itself through paintings of figures and events dating from prehistoric times to the 1950s on The Great Wall of Los Angeles. The more-than-half-mile-long mural that has stretched along the river for about 40 years is getting a 21st century update as new sections are being painted at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). The new additions will bring the mural, already one of the world’s largest, to a full mile long.

Anyone who knows Manhattan like a New Yorker knows it’s a city that never sleeps–-and knows when to capture the best angle for the solar spectacle known as Manhattanhenge. Twice annually—weeks before and after the summer solstice—residents and tourists raise their phones to capture Manhattan’s sun aligning with the city grid, creating a spectacular sunset. Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson coined it Manhattanhenge.
