Chloe Hayden said her life changed after a head on car crash which left her suffering multiple panic attacks a day. The 22-year-old said taking anti-depressants was the "best thing she had ever done" for herself. More than seven million prescriptions for anti-depressants were given in Wales in 2022-23 compared with 2.1 million in 2002-03 and Mind Cymru has called for urgent action to address the root causes of poor mental health.

Victims of child sexual abuse were treated in a heartless, hostile and cruel way by monks on a remote island, a safeguarding review has found. One survivor says the way she has been treated since her time on Caldey Island has made the effects of the abuse "a million times worse". The review said frequent allegations of abuse had been made but not followed up on or reported to police, and the lack of challenge had enabled a monk to abuse children over four decades "in plain sight".

Charmaine Denton has been waiting more than two years for a permanent home and she is far from the only one. The 38-year-old is "scratching at the door" to move after three years in supported housing, which she said had affected her mental health and left her feeling like her life was on hold. Homelessness is at a record level in Wales and the number using temporary accommodation, such as B&Bs, has risen by 18% to 6,447 in 2023-24.

Francesca Murphy was still in her school uniform when she was admitted to an adult mental health ward. She was 18, still in school and extremely scared. Mind Cymru said there were concerns about staff shortages, care planning and the use of restraints at mental health inpatient units across Wales. The Welsh government said it had invested £2m for improvements. Ms Murphy, now 27, said her life changed dramatically following a sailing accident in 2014.
