    In 2024, an average of 21 people died every single day in Canada from opioid toxicity. This amounts to over 50,000 deaths since the count began in 2016.   Quebec is also seeing a sharp increase in overdose poisonings, with 33 per cent more deaths in 2024 than the year before. The Institut national de santé publique du Québec foresees 2024 being the worst year on record for the province in regards to the crisis.
