1 INTRODUCTION ‘INVOcell’ is the first FDA-approved medical device for the treatment of infertility via intravaginal culture (IVC). The device in question is loaded with eggs and sperm and then inserted into a woman's vagina for in vivo fertilisation. This means that fertilisation and the initial stages of embryonic development will occur within the patient's body, rather than in a laboratory setting, as would have been the case for in vitro fertilisation (IVF).
