Avic International Leasing is hoping to raise at least $24.8m by selling a six-year-old kamsarmax bulk carrier through a Chinese online auction website. Bidding on the 81,800-dwt bulker SDTR Dora (built 2019) will begin on 5 June, according to the Shipbid auction platform.

Alexander Saverys’ CMB.Tech is splashing out about $450m on new tankers after its takeover of Golden Ocean’s 90 bulk carriers. Shipbuilding sources said the New York and Brussels-listed company is ordering up to five vessels at China’s Qingdao Beihai Heavy Industry.

Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has landed an order for a series of newcastlemax bulker carriers in a deal that marks the shipyard’s entry into the large size bulker segment. Multiple shipbuilding sources said Japan’s Doun Kisen has commissioned the Jiangsu-based shipyard to build three 210,000-dwt bulk carriers to be delivered from 2028. Nantong Xiangyu is famed for constructing ultramax and kamsarmax bulkers along with stainless steel chemical tankers.

Diversified Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) has been ranked as one of the top employers in Singapore. The annual survey was compiled by The Straits Times and global research company Statista which saw more than 14,000 respondents and over 380,000 responses in an independent online survey. EPS, which made the list for the first time, was ranked 243.

China’s Jiangsu Ocean Shipping (Josco) is upsizing the container ships it is operating by ordering a series of feedermax newbuildings worth $180m. State-owned Josco has commissioned Jiangsu Soho Innovation & Technology, also known as Jiangsu Soho Chuangke Shipbuilding, to build four 3,000-teu newbuildings to be delivered in 2027. The newbuildings would be the largest container vessels under Josco’s control.

Adhart Shipping has inked a series of ultramax bulker newbuildings in China as it expands its presence in the sector. According to shipping databases, the Singapore-based company has four 64,100-dwt ultramaxes on order at New Dayang Shipbuilding. S&P Maritime Portal shows the Adhart newbuildings at New Dayang as Hull Nos 1330, 1332, 1338 and 1341.

Japan’s Idemitsu Tanker is splashing out around $270m on two methanol dual-fuel VLCCs as part of its fleet renewal plan. In addition, the Tokyo-based company has revealed that it chartering two more of the eco-friendly type from compatriot owners Iino Kaiun Kaisha and NYK under long-term period contracts. All four 309,000-dwt crude carriers have been contracted at Japan Marine United (JMU) for delivery between 2027 and 2028.

The Kriton Lendoudis-led company is being named as the buyer behind an order for two suezmaxes that HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) announced on Wednesday. The South Korean shipbuilding group did not name the contracting party but said these vessels are for a shipping company based in Africa.

Japan’s Nissen Kaiun is extending its presence in the mid-size gas carrier sector by ordering two LPG carrier newbuildings at HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HD HMD). Shipbuilding sources told TradeWinds that the privately-owned shipping company has contracted the Ulsan-based HD HMD to build two 40,000-cbm ships for delivery by the second half of 2027. The latest deal brings Nissen’s medium-size gas carrier orderbook at HD HMD to four ships.
