    The Water Supplies Department has expressed concerns about some residents reportedly suffering from diarrhoea after unknown black particles were found in drinking water at two government housing estates in Fanling. The department said on its Facebook page on Tuesday evening that it has been closely following the water quality issue at Queen’s Hill Estate and the adjacent Shan Lai Court, which shares the same water supply system.

    Hong Kong’s national security police have arrested five people suspected of making fake bomb threats and promoting the city’s independence. The five suspects – a 35-year-old man and four women, aged 20 to 38 – were arrested on Monday after police searched four locations, National Security Police Chief Superintendent Steve Li told reporters on Tuesday afternoon. Police officers also seized several phones and computers, he said.

    Hong Kong’s Water Supplies Department (WSD) has said it is investigating black particles found in the drinking water of a public housing estate, while giving assurance that the water is safe to drink. Roger Wong, director of water supplies, said on RTHK on Monday that authorities received reports on Friday that residents at Queen’s Hill Estate in Fanling discovered unidentified black particles in their drinking water.

    Hong Kong’s government watchdog has announced an investigation into amenities in the city’s countryside, an effort to boost tourism amid complaints about hygiene and insufficient facilities in some nature spots. The Office of The Ombudsman said on Thursday that the probe is intended to align with the government’s efforts to develop green tourism and the concept that “tourism is everywhere” in the city – a notion put forward by Beijing’s top official on Hong Kong affairs, Xia Baolong.
