The abundance of money flowing into private credit has fed a race-to-the-bottom to underwrite deals at beneficial terms for borrowers. When the economic cycle turns, it will be “game over” for a number of funds overly exposed to weak companies, according to Silver Point’s partner Michael Gatto. “We see every deal that’s getting done — there’s some good deals and there’s some bad deals,” Gatto said on Bloomberg Intelligence’s Credit Edge podcast.

KKR & Co. has reached a restructuring agreement with a cohort of Selecta Group BV creditors that is set to leave investors outside of the negotiating bloc worse off. As part of the deal, the private equity firm will transfer ownership of the Swiss vending machine operator to creditors, who will take control through a new holding company.
