AbstractIntroductionAntiretroviral therapy (ART) constitutes a major advance in the clinical management of the HIV-1 pandemic. Modifying the natural course of the infection has substantially improved the life expectancy of people with HIV-1 (PWH) (1). However, despite achieving undetectable plasma viral loads (VLs), effective ART does not completely eliminate the virus, which persists as a residual latent infection in resting CD4+ T cells.
