1 INTRODUCTION Decades of evidence suggest that job-related burnout has negatively impacted nurses around the world (Aiken et al., 2002; Dall'Ora et al., 2020). Burnout is a psychological syndrome involving emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and a decreased sense of personal accomplishments (Chen et al., 2021; Maslach & Jackson, 1981; Sultana et al., 2020). The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated and accelerated the effects of nurse burnout.
