After a bullish 2022, the European guarantees of origin (GO) market experienced high volatility in 2023 and falling prices from early summer and into the start of 2024. An oversupply seems to be the main price driver due to growing renewable capacity build-out, good weather conditions and reduced electricity demand. However, there is room for demand recovery amid a positive economic outlook, as well as supportive legislative and regulatory changes.
