Armagh opened their Lidl NFL Division 1 campaign with a victory over Waterford at a wet and windy Crossmaglen. A strong first-half performance was the difference for the Orchard County, as both teams only scored twice after the turnaround. The two sides rattled the net in the first half, but it was the white flags raised by Greg McGonigle's side, back in the top tier for the first time since 2016, that really told the tale in the end.

Allaho returned to winning ways when claiming victory in the Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase at Thurles for a third time. The Willie Mullins-trained 10-year-old was successful in the two-and-a-half-mile Grade Two event in 2021 and 2022, but missed the entirity of last season through injury. Having returned to action this term with a smooth triumph at Clonmel, he was beaten into third behind Hewick when favourite for the King George VI Chase at Kempton on St Stephen's Day.

A late Christian McCaffrey touchdown gave the San Francisco 49ers a 24-21 win over the Green Bay Packers and moved them one win from the Super Bowl. The 49ers, the number one seeds in the NFC, had trailed 21-14 heading into the fourth quarter. Jake Moody cut the gap with a 52-yard field goal before McCaffrey crashed his way over from six yards with 67 seconds on the clock.
