In May, Adams formed a Charter Revision Commission and gave it nine weeks to review the entire City Charter, hold public hearings in every borough, and make recommendations to change the charter. This process led the commission to approve five citywide ballot measures that would change the charter on several key issues. Voters will be able to vote on these five ballot measures this November.

With the aim of meeting the state’s ambitious climate targets under the Michigan Healthy Climate Plan, Michigan lawmakers have proposed Senate Bill 275, which would establish a “Clean Fuel Standard” for the state. Some lawmakers have touted the bill as a climate win, given its intent to lower the carbon intensity of fuels used and establish a market for trading carbon intensity credits in Michigan.

With concerns about food safety, quality, and animal treatment on the rise in the U.S., the shift toward cage-free egg production has rapidly accelerated over the last decade. According to USDA data, the percentage of hens raised in cage-free systems has grown from just about 9.6% in 2012 to over 40% in 2024. Driven by state laws and corporate purchasing policies, this figure is projected to possibly reach 75% by 2025.

Indeed, we see this concern most prominently when asking voters about their spending habits on essential goods and services. Eighty-two percent of Latino voters say they spend more on food and groceries than they did a year ago. Similarly, 66% say they spend more on home electricity bills, 65% spend more on gas for their vehicles, 63% spend more on home gas heating costs, 61% spend more on housing, and 50% spend more on home insurance costs.
