Today I had a near-death experience. One of those ones you read about in books, where your whole life flashes before your eyes in the space of about 1.5 seconds and you realise how uninteresting you really are. What was the cause this near fatal event? Exercise. I’ve been told that exercise is good for you. A wholesome hobby that has benefits for both physical and mental health. Sounds fabulous. What’s not to love? Well, as it turns out, the actual moving around part. I love the exercise clothes.

Rita Ora Completely slays in red at the D23 event, her dress reminiscent of her role as the Queen of Hearts in the musical Descedants: The Rise of Red. While the film itself led to a less than delightful critical reception, viewers still found Rita a high point in the film, understanding the assignment and delivering a truly great villain in the Queen. Despite a standout performance in the film she couldn’t be further from her character between takes.

On their triumphant march around the world the cast of Deadpool and Wolverine took some time in Brazil where Emma Corrin got a chance to look statuesque in front of Christ the Redeemer. Emma Corrin can slink into any role and inhabit it. It took me far too long to recognise the bald scheming twin of Professor Xavier in the Deadpool and Wolverine film as the same person who played Diana just a few years earlier in The Crown.

In a corner of South Africa shortly after the Boer War a small mining operation owned by one Thomas Cullinan has just come to a halt. The year is 1905 and just a little over 5 metres underground the world’s largest diamond has just been unearthed. At 3,106 carats and measuring 10.1 centimetres long, 6.35 centimetres wide, and 5.9 centimetres deep it became an instant celebrity. On display in Johannesburg it got around 8-9,000 visitors as the government of the day debated what to do about it.

These muffins are on heavy rotation in my kitchen, so much so that I pretty much know the recipe by heart. Obviously they taste good, but also the texture is spot-on (I am particular about this). They’re great for lunchboxes and kids love them, but they also have quite a ‘grown-up’ muffin vibe, so they work for adults, too.
