Ben McCollum is "your favorite coach's favorite coach." That's the caliber of program builder that Iowa's brass was able to pluck to replace Fran McCaffery. Get ready for a boatload of white button-downs and presumably a yellow tie. But roster-building reigns supreme in the spring, and it's been a busy one in Iowa City. McCollum was only able to retain one scholarship player (Cooper Koch), which means the 2025-26 Hawkeyes will feature 10 newcomers, at minimum.

Brad Underwood has earned a national reputation as a chameleon, who is more than willing to violently swerve his X's and O's or veer his recruiting strategy to build a consistent winner. Get grizzly old? Sure. Try the five-star freshman route? Bring it. Flip the roster on its head? Sounds good, no problem. Illinois has finished inside the top-20 on kenpom.com in four of the past five seasons with tons of new faces shifting in and out of the spotlight.

Here's what to expect from each of Kentucky's 10 newcomers, plus offseason grades and early 2025-26 outlook. VIPKentucky, fresh off a Sweet 16 appearance, entered the spring roster-building cycle needing to make big-dawg moves to replace a veteran-laden roster. While Mark Pope helped Kentucky exceed expectations in Year 1, the Wildcats didn't necessarily look like a SEC team at times. Kentucky didn't have slam-dunk pros. It didn't have jaw-dropping athleticism. It needed more juice.

The ACC is quickly reaping the rewards of a strong performance in the coaching carousel. NC State looks primed to compete right away after landing McNeese's Will Wade. Now that Ryan Odom is in charge, Virginia's roster makeover looks exceptional compared to last season's debacle. There is nowhere to go but up for Miami, right? Former Duke assistant coach Jai Lucas has accumulated real talent in Coral Gables..

Watching more Bennett Stirtz today, and man, his drives are just stupid-good. Putting David N’Guessan on skates isn’t easy, and that finish around Coleman Hawkins is toughhh. All of this translates at Iowa. https://t.co/GLrY3C4SL4

Big-time, last-second add for Virginia Tech. Avdalas' decision to prioritize role > $$ should pay off, too. Will have every opportunity to be a top-two option for Mike Young next year. 17th (!) international addition to the ACC alone this spring. Serious influx of newcomers.

BREAKING: Greek G/F Neoklis Avdalas has signed to Virginia Tech The 6-8 wing withdrew from the NBA Draft after averaging 8.1 PPG, 2.5 RPG and 1.2 APG in the Greek pro league this season One of Europe’s top prospects is Blacksburg-bound Story: https://t.co/dIFcnb6QHc https://t.co/9wjKevO8Z2

Cannot believe Pascal Siakam did not get a touch in a backdown in some of these late-quarter possessions. Because isolating Chet Holmgren on the perimeter ain’t the mismatch some guards think it is.
