    During the evening hours of Saturday, June 7, a Mt. Juliet Police officer pulled over a vehicle allegedly traveling 93 mph on Intestate 40, leading to the arrest of a wanted man. Authorities say a Jeep Renegade was stopped by the officer, who discovered the driver, a 34-year-old Nashville man, had an outstanding warrant from Nashville for a violation of probation related to a felony aggravated assault conviction. He was also allegedly driving on a revoked license.

    Mt. Juliet Police say the city experienced a drop in crimes against property and persons over the Memorial Day weekend. These types of crimes, which MJPD says directly impact city businesses and residents, experienced a 25% drop. “While Mt. Juliet is already one of the safest cities in the region, this trend reflects our collective vigilance and dedication to a safe community,” MJPD said. Despite the fewer reported crimes, officers arrested 57 individuals, 88% of which were non-city residents.

    The proposed sanitation fee advanced by the Lebanon City Council has caused a discussion among residents and prompted questions regarding the need for a new fee.
