1. IntroductionThe concept of diffuse noxious inhibitory control (DNIC) first appeared in the field of pain research through the studies of Le Bars et al. [1,2,3,4,5]. DNIC is known as a paradigm of endogenous analgesia that is driven by the “pain inhibits pain” principle. This experience occurs when an additional painful stimulus in one part of the body suppresses the initial spatially distant experienced pain [6,7].
