AB Foods reported a 12% annual drop in operating profit for the 24 weeks to March and cut guidance for their sugar businesses. They cited persistent low European sugar prices and an operating loss in their UK bioethanol business, Vivergo, as offsetting growth in the Primark owner’s retail businesses.

Coming up at the top of the hour we have consumer price inflation data for March. The headline figure is expected to show inflation slowed slightly to 2.7% from a year earlier, while held at 0.4% on a monthly basis. And economists see the key services reading falling to 4.8% from 5% last year.
