While the pound’s drop today follows a small advance yesterday, it’s notable that it’s again underperforming the majority of G-10 peers. Yesterday it lagged other currencies such as the euro, even as it benefitted from dollar weakness. A gauge of the dollar today is little changed, as attention is perhaps less on trade issues and more on concerns about the Middle East, so the pound’s decline is not purely a counterpoint to sentiment towards the US currency.
