The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the posting and redeployment of 40 senior police officers, comprising 14 Assistant Inspectors General of Police and 26 Commissioners of Police. They were posted to various commands and formations across the country to reflect the new status of senior officers recently elevated to their next ranks. The Nigeria Police Force have said the Acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has never withdrawn police officers attached to important personalities in the country. A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, clarified that the IGP only withdrew Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel from certain important personalities.

Police officer slumps, dies in Lagos days after suspect's bite

A police constable attached to the Lagos State Police Command, Wale Akinlotan, has slumped and died while on duty at Ilupeju police division. DAILY POST learnt that the policeman enrolled into the Nigeria Police Force in 2018 and has once served at the Lagos Police Public Relations Office, as one of its media men. The graduate of Mass Communication from the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Akinlotan, slumped on Monday while at his station in Ilupeju, where he served as the orderly to the DPO.
Secondary school teacher arrested for rape in Ogun

A secondary school teacher in Ogun State, Lateef Olaniran, has been arrested for allegedly raping a young lady, name withheld. Olaniran, said to be a native of Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, is a Mathematics teacher at Ebenezer Grammar School, Iberekodo, Abeokuta. He is an employee of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission with the number, OGNO.30650. The State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Adijat Olaleye, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Electrician dies while replacing power cable on pole in Ogun

An electrician identified simply as Dare has been electrocuted while fixing an electrical problem at Unity Estate, Aregbe, Obantoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State. Dare died on Tuesday as he climbed the electrical pole to help a neighbour known as Elijah to fix the fault. He had climbed the pole on Tuesday at a time when there was power outage to work on the electric cables. However, hardly had he started the job when power was restored and he was electrocuted, our correspondent gathered.

One Abdullahi Abubakar, said to be a legal practitioner, has allegedly killed a mobile policeman in Bauchi State. The spokesman for Operation Safe Haven military taskforce, Captain Oya James, stated this in a statement on Tuesday. According to him, troops had on Saturday arrested one “Mr Abdullahi Abubakar Lawyer” at Rimin Zayam village in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State for the alleged “killing of own Mobile Police personnel”.
EFCC arraigns fake surety in Port Harcourt

One Emmanuel Sanikpege has been arraigned by the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for forging a document he used to stand surety for a suspect, Umor Bright. EFCC, in a statement on its social media handles on Tuesday, said Sanikpege was arraigned on October 31, 2023, before Justice P. I. Ajoku of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Obasanjo made the call in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Monday, during the Presidential Youth Retreat (0.4) organised by the Youth Development Centre, an arm of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL). The former President urged Nigerian youths to contribute to the growth of the green economy to create an environmentally sustainable future.
