The Kebbi State Police Command, on Tuesday, announced the arrest of three members of the Lakurawa terrorists group who allegedly offered N1.6 million bribe to its lead investigator. A statement by the command's public relations officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, said the three suspects, one Umaru Garba, Alhaji Abubakar Mamman and Usman Muhammadu, had conspired to offer detectives bribe to compromise investigation and prosecution of a banditry case involving Lakurawa terrorists.

The hippopotamus that fatally attacked a guard of the Emir of Yauri in the Gungun Sarki River, located in Kebbi State, has been killed. The animal and its calf were killed following a directive by the authorities. The late guard, Usman Mai Gadi, was fishing in the river when the hippo attacked and killed him. In response to this incident and the injury of another fisherman, the authorities instructed the local community to track down the hippo.

A High Court in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, has sentenced three men to life imprisonment for allegedly gang-raping an 18-year-old deaf housewife. City & Crime learnt that the girl, (name withheld), was on errand by her parents when she was allegedly accosted by the men and taken to their hideout where she was raped. The suspects names are given as Isah Isma'il, (60), Ibrahim Umar, (45), Mustapha Sani (44), Dauda Garba (40), Tukur Bawa (38) and Muktar Muhammed (28).
