2024 was a deeply weird year. So it’s probably no coincidence that our TV viewing habits ranged all over the place. Sometimes, we turned to shows that revealed or reflected something about the chaotic world this year. Other times, we turned to something silly and escapist. Wherever the show landed, we mostly sought out television that eschewed hacky formulas and safe choices for originality and authenticity.

“Arcane: League of Legends” is currently the most popular show on Netflix, according to the platform’s public ranking system. The adult animated action series returned for a second and final season on Nov. 9, about three years after the first season premiered. It’s an adaptation of the “League of Legends” video game with a focus on the characters Vi and Jinx. “Arcane” features the voices of Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell, Kevin Alejandro, Katie Leung, Toks Olagundoye and Harry Lloyd.

On election night, instead of waiting around for the news anchors of MSNBC to confirm America’s authoritarian tilt, I flipped to Bravo to seek escapist comfort via a new episode of “The Real Housewives of New York.”I know this is a controversial statement to offer in certain fan circles, but I thought the previous season of “RHONY,” which introduced an entirely new cast, was fine. As much as I miss the original cast of women on “RHONY,” I can also see why the network opted for a reboot.

Released on Oct. 30, the movie has received mostly negative reviews from critics. “Time Cut” stars Madison Bailey, Antonia Gentry, Griffin Gluck, Michael Shanks and Rachael Crawford.
