The Metro Transit Police asked people at around 7:30 p.m. to avoid the area surrounding the park near Q Street as the investigation unfolded.

WASHINGTON — A child tested positive for measles in Virginia on Thursday, marking the third measles case of 2025 in the commonwealth, according to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). The Virginia Health Department said the child, who is no older than 4, started showing symptoms after they were exposed to , where a teen tested positive after traveling internationally. The child is now the second person that the VDH said potentially exposed people to the virus inside Charlottesville.
