    In a landmark infrastructure development, the Government of Uganda has officially launched the construction of the Kyenjojo (Kihura)–Bwizi–Rwamwanja–Kahunge 68km road, the 38km Mpara–Bwizi road, and 20km of town roads in Kihura and Kahunge towns. The project was commissioned on Friday by Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, who represented H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the event held at Bwizi Seed Secondary School football grounds in Bwizi Sub County, Kamwenge District.

    The Grade One Magistrate’s Court in Ibanda has once again remanded eight people accused of murdering a police officer during a burial ceremony, as investigations into the case remain incomplete. The group is accused of killing 28-year-old Suleiman Chemonges, a police officer attached to Bisheshe Police Post, who was allegedly attacked by a mob while on duty at the burial of Lazarus Kahangire, an inmate who had died while on remand at Nyabuhikye Government Prison.

    Ibanda District Local Government, through its Department of Agriculture, has distributed three motorcycles to extension workers serving in various parts of the district to improve agricultural productivity and service delivery. The beneficiaries of the new motorcycles are Besiima Robert Musiba, the Agriculture Officer for Nyamarebe Sub-county; Agaba Apollo, the Veterinary Doctor for Igorora Town Council; and John Ronald Wamala, the Veterinary Doctor for Kikyenkye Sub-county.

The new installations, located in Kashozi, Nyansimbo, Rwenkobwa, and Kakoma are now fully operational and set to significantly improve network coverage across the region.

    Residents of Kicwamba Ward in Kitagwenda Town Council have raised alarm over the dire state of water access in their community, citing growing fears of waterborne diseases due to the unsafe water they are forced to use. Led by their LC1 Chairperson, Benard Kapere, the residents took matters into their own hands through a Burungi Bwansi (community service) activity aimed at reopening a previously constructed shallow well that had since dried up.
