Kevin Quiambao will fly to the United States for intense training with the goal of becoming the latest Filipino to play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) Summer League. Reports have it that the 23-year-old forward is taking a short break after missing the playoffs with the Goyang Sono Skygunners in the Korean Basketball League. He will fly to the US to train from June to July, giving him enough time to prepare for the Summer League in Las Vegas on 10 July.

Alex Eala and Katie Volynets of the United States suffered an early exit in the women's doubles of the Oeiras Ladies Open after a 6-3, 6-4 loss in the Round of 16 against the American duo of Carmen Corley and Christina Rosca at the Centro Desportivo Nacional do Jamor in Oeiras, Portugal Wednesday evening (Manila time). Eala and Volynets, who competed against each other last March in the Miami Open, couldn't get the win against the No. 4 seed pair after competing for one hour and 13 minutes.

Alex Eala kicked off her campaign in the Oeiras Ladies Open on a high note as she pulled off a 6-3, 6-4 sweep over Anouk Koevermans of the Netherlands in the round of 32 at the Centro Desportivo Nacional do Jamor in Oeiras, Portugal Tuesday evening (Manila time). Eala, 19, pulled off the win in one hour and 26 minutes in a match that was supposed to happen last Monday but was delayed due to heavy rain.
