CHATTANOOGA (Court TV) — A Tennessee man is life in prison if convicted in the death of his girlfriend. Jason Chen is charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the 2022 death of 22-year-old Jasmine Pace. Prosecutors allege Chen murdered and dismembered Pace before leaving her remains in a suitcase. Due to the publicity of the case, a jury was brought in from Nashville. Pace’s family reported her missing in Nov. 2022.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (Court TV) — A New Hampshire man is standing trial in Vermont for the death of his wife. Joseph Ferlazzo is accused of fatally shooting 22-year-old Emily Ferlazzo in Oct. 2021 while they were visiting Vermont for their one-year wedding anniversary. Emily’s family reported her missing when he returned from their trip alone claiming that Emily left after they got into an argument.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Court TV) – A Florida man is facing 18 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to an attack on his ex-girlfriend and her mother. Spencer Ross Pearson, 20, was arrested in June 2023 for stabbing Madison Schemitz and her mother, Jaclyn Rogé, outside a Ponte Vedra Beach restaurant. Schemitz, who was 17 years old at the time, was temporarily paralyzed after being stabbed more than a dozen times.

Brian Camp, 24, is charged with manslaughter for the death of Johnathan Letendre, 27. According to court documents, Letendre broke into the home Camp shared with his girlfriend and their two children on Dec. 27, 2022, and attacked Camp as he slept. “Following a prolonged physical altercation,” Camp allegedly shot Letendre in the torso as Brooke Janik called 911.

Monica Sementilli, 52, is charged with murder and conspiracy in the death of 49-year-old Fabio Sementilli. Prosecutors say Monica and her lover, 61-year-old Robert Baker, killed Fabio to continue their affair and cash in a life insurance policy worth $1.6 million. Victim's mother offers forgiveness at sentencing for suicide pact killing

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (Court TV) — A Utah woman was sentenced to one to fifteen years in prison after her friend was killed in what prosecutors called a suicide pact. In September, Heavenly Faith Garfield pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the April death of Brooklyn Barrett, 21. Garfield was initially charged with murder and discharge of a firearm, but took a plea deal in her case. She was facing up to 15 years in prison.
