    According to the Wyoming Historical Society, on April 13, 1892, federal troops intervened to end the Johnson County War. On April 14, 1898, 1,000 trees were brought to Casper from Nebraska for planting. On April 14, 1902, a young James Cash Penney and two partners opened a new Golden Rule store in Kemmerer. It was the foundation of what would become the JCPenney Company. On April 15, 1868, Atlantic City was founded by Col. Charles W. Tozer, Charles Collins, and H.A. Thompson.

    A Burlington woman has hit her goal of visiting every continent. The Basin Republican Rustler reports that as a teacher, Julie Michaels would do all of her traveling in the summer. But our summer is Antarctica’s winter, so she was never able to cross it off her list. But, she retired last year and booked a trip to the bottom of the Earth. Her next big plan is a road trip of the contiguous United States with her great-granddaughter. Six Powell students got to help set the school lunch menu.

    Two Victory Baptist Church members in Powell recently returned from helping those affected by the LA wildfires. The Powell Tribune reports Maynard Brown and Steve Burtoft spent 12 days helping residents search for personal property that may have made it through the fire. A Campbell County High Schooler has started the track and field season on top. The Gillette News Record reports senior Raynor Ranum broke the school record in outdoor shotput earlier this month with an over 58-foot throw.

    A Cheyenne firefighter has a second shot at life thanks to his friend and coworker. The Wyoming Tribune-Eagle reports David Beightol was told last April that he needed a kidney transplant. He joined the waitlist and sent a message out to his coworkers asking if anyone was interested in being a donor. But of the several who answered, none were a match. Months later, Ryan Seaberg ran into Beightol’s wife. Through a miscommunication, he had volunteered but never been tested as a donor.

    Those in Rock Springs may have noticed some new critters roaming around town recently. The Rock Springs Rocket Miner reports the city hired around 300 goats to help with vegetation management. The goats moved around town, clearing weeds, fertilizing, and tilling up the areas. Two Powell police officers were recently recognized for their heroic actions during an apartment fire.

When I record at home, I record in my closet, using my clothes to help soundproof. Does this mean I can write off purchases of new clothes as work expenses? 🤔
