I attended the 89th Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club, where they debuted a new menu item on their iconic cheap concession lineup: the Savory Tomato Pie. The Masters Instagram account announced the addition on April 1, 2025, and given the particular timing of the announcement, many people, including me, thought it was an April Fools' Day joke. However, in true Augusta National fashion, this was not a joking matter.

SOME MIGHT call them old-fashioned, but I think that cheese balls deserve a comeback. At one time, you could find the herb- or pecan-covered mounds at every party you attended. Part of their allure is that until someone digs in, you never know what’s inside—it could be spreadable cheese, deviled ham, or some secret concoction closely guarded by the cook. You know those recipes that are so commonplace they tend to get overlooked? As Southerners, we grew up with plenty of these: sweet tea at a luncheon, a relish tray on the supper table, and the cut-crystal bowl of pastel buttermints at a baby shower all go relatively unnoticed because, well, it just wouldn’t be right if they weren’t there. We forget how remarkable they really are because, since they’re always around, they don’t feel special.

Taking all of the corporate terms I just overheard in this zoom and making them into a sentence: Pinging you coming off of this lateral listicle to circle back on the learnings aligned with the gatekeepers we’re filtering out down this pipeline because of burnout.
